Most drum grooves can be written by following a simple recipe. Learn how to apply this recipe using the sequencer in Soundtrap to write your own drum patterns. With enough practice you will be able to sequence the patterns that you hear in your head.
Drum Groove Recipe
1 | Create A One Bar Loop
Start your drum groove off by setting up the soundtrap project window to create a one bar loop.
2 | Snares On 2 and 4
Create the structure of the groove by placing snares on beats 2 and 4.
3 | Snares Vs Claps
A snare or clap sound can be used on beats 2 and 4. Find which one you like by trying them out.
4 | Kicks
Add a kick on beat 1 and 2 to 4 additional kicks to your groove.
5 | Closed Hihats
Add closed hihats to create more energy in your groove.
