2.3 arranging drums
Variation in a drum pattern can bring different levels of energy throughout a track. This can then be used to further help achieve the objective that you are trying to reach for your audience.
1 | Create A Pattern
Write a 1-bar drum pattern using the sequencer by putting the snare on 2 & 4, the kick on beat 1, adding 2-5 more kicks, and some closed hihats.
2 | Low Energy Section
Create a low energy version of your drum groove by removing the kick and hihats.
3 | Medium Energy Section
Create a medium energy section by removing the closed hihats.
4 | Ending Section
Create another medium energy section by removing the closed and open hihats.
5 | Subtraction
Create suspense by removing a half bar of the drums before the high energy section.
