Assignment
Goal: To play 5-6 string chords with (1) proper technique with your fretting hand, using your ability to (2) read a chord chart
How to Complete the Assignment:
Complete the following in a recording of yourself:
Exercise 1: Play along with the backing track
Exercise 2: Play along with the backing track, but make sure to play the rhythm on the music and write in the counts
Exercises 3 & 4: Play along as usual, but make sure to use the proper strumming direction (up vs. down)
Exercise 5: Listen to the chords and write them down (also called transcribing) using roman numerals. Each chord will only be either a I, IV, V, or vi chord
Exercise 6: Write and play your own chord progression using the Diatonic Chord Progression Video and the Diatonic Chord Chart.
Make sure your progression either starts or ends on a stable chord (the chords closest to the top). Make sure to add your own rhythm at least once.
